What Sustainability Means to Us

Sustainable fashion begins with learning how to tune out the constant noise telling us we always need something new. Everywhere we look — especially on social media — we’re being influenced to shop more, buy more, and chase trends that often have nothing to do with who we really are. Closets become overcrowded with pieces that don’t reflect our personal style, our lifestyle, or even what truly makes us feel good.

It’s easy to point fingers at fast fashion brands like Zara and H&M, but the reality is more personal than that. If more women bought clothing and accessories they genuinely loved — pieces that fit their lives, their style, and their sense of self — the entire fashion landscape would look different.

We love shopping, but have learned that loving fashion doesn’t mean constantly buying. There are plenty of times we walk away empty-handed, or return something because deep down we know it doesn’t align with our style and won’t earn its place in our small London closets. In a space where every item takes up real estate, We've realised that if something doesn’t truly fill our cup, it’s simply excess.

When we started our brand Livotte ten years ago, we had a very clear vision: we wanted to create elevated t-shirts and tops that would live beyond a single season and beyond a single look. If we were going to focus on one category, it had to be the very best version of it. We had conviction and wanted to design pieces that could move effortlessly through every part of a woman’s life — from city streets to seaside escapes, snowy holidays to sunny afternoons.

The collection needed to feel versatile and uncomplicated: easy to pack for travel, polished enough for work, and relaxed enough for a weekend lunch. We wanted these tops and tees to become true wardrobe staples — the kind of pieces a woman instinctively reaches for whether she’s pairing them with her favourite denim, tailored trousers, or a beautiful skirt.

What makes a simple t-shirt special is often in the smallest details. A puff sleeve, a soft ruffle, or a carefully placed pleat can transform an everyday basic into something that feels feminine, elevated, and complete on its own. These subtle design elements allow a classic piece to stand alone as a fashion statement rather than simply a layering item.

From the beginning, quality and longevity were just as important as style. That’s why we developed our signature fabric blend of 96% organic cotton and 4% Lycra — a fabric tested to withstand more than 200 machine washes while still maintaining its shape and feel. Beautiful clothing should be lived in, worn often, and cared for easily. It shouldn’t require constant dry cleaning or need replacing after a season of wear.

We truly believe women do not need to reinvent their wardrobes every few months. We need fewer pieces, but better ones. Pieces that reflect our individuality, support our lifestyle, and make us feel like the best version of ourselves every time we put them on.
